Is it ok for Christians to Believe in Saints?

A lot of Christians are confused as to whether they should believe in praying to Saints or not. The Roman Catholic Church claims that the Catholic do not pray to Saints or the Mama Mary, but rather asks them to pray for them or talk to Jesus and God the Father in behalf of them. They believe that they have the power to communicate with the Almighty and make our prayers more powerful. Christians claim that this has no basis but some of them still practice them.

*Do you think Saints can help you talk directly to God? For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 2:5

The Bible says that we should not believe that we can be saved with the help of others, not even Saints. There is no one else that can mediate with God for us, not even the Virgin Mary. Since the scripture above tells us that Jesus is the only mediator, it is clear that we don’t need to pray for the saints or Mary to mediate for us. It is better that you lift your prayers personally and directly to God because He can hear you all the time.

*Can the Saints help save you from your sins? Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. Hebrews 7:25

Jesus is our only savior. He saved us from our sins when He died in the cross and it was said that He will come again to judge the living and the dead when the right time comes. The Bible says that we don’t need the saints or Mary to intercede for us because we already have Jesus to do that.

*Why do Catholics pray to Mary and other saints? Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel. Ephesians 6:19

It is very confusing since the Apostle Paul asks other Christians to pray for him in the scripture stated above. This is just the same as what other Christians claim. I believe it is just okay to ask for help in the form of prayers but we still need to practice our faith directly to God.

Is it Ok for Christians to Practice Abortion?

Abortion is one of the topics being debated upon by some. Some have their reasons why they practice abortion. While others are truly against this since they consider this as murder. Abortion is the process of ending a pregnancy before you give birth to a fetus and send it in the outside world for survival. Abortion is intentional while miscarriages are tragic accidents.

*What does the Bible say about abortion? If people are fighting and hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman’s husband demands and the court allows.  But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, and bruise for bruise. Exodus 21:22-25

Before, back in the time where hospitals where not yet formed, the court takes trial to anybody who causes the death of an unborn baby, may the death be caused by accident or intentionally. The penalty for this is death. But today’s modern world, there is no law that protects unborn babies from being aborted. Since no one can protect the aborted baby but their parents, no one files a case for aborted ones since the culprit is probably the mothers themselves. The guilty conscience falls to them while the one to be assaulted with responsibility for the death of the baby is the abortionist. But if you’re a mother and the process of abortion is against your will, then you definitely have a case on that.

*Is it ok to commit abortion when the mother’s life is already at risk? If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. James 1:5

A woman is responsible for two lives when she is pregnant; hers and that of her baby’s. This is a very difficult question but let us way the pros and cons. What is your motive when you commit abortion? In our current situation, women have an abortion for convenience than women who have an abortion to save their own lives. Let us also remember that God is a God of miracles. He has the power to preserve the life of a mother and a child despite all the medical odds being against it. It’s just up to you to fight and pray for whatever outcome your pregnancy may lead to. Finally, though, this question can only be decided between a husband, wife, and God. All you need to do is to pray for God’s wisdom in whatever decision you may encounter.

Is it Ok for Christians to be Judgmental?

Humans are judgmental by nature. I don’t know the reason why people can’t stop judging one another. Maybe because we are also observant by nature and we cannot avoid seeing bad stuff from other people especially when we are aware of what’s good and bad and what the difference between right and wrong is. I begin to wonder if it is just ok for us Christians to judge other people since we are all sinners ourselves.

*What does the Bible say about being judgmental? Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Matthew 7:1

It was clear that the Bible discourages us from being judgmental because it might backfire to us and we might not like the result. This verse serves as a warning against hypocrisy and, at the same time, an exhortation to right living.

*Do we have the right to judge other people based on observation or personal opinion? To humans belong the plans of the heart, but from the LORD comes the proper answer of the tongue. Proverbs 16:1 Continue reading “Is it Ok for Christians to be Judgmental?”

Is it Ok for Christians to Support Death Penalty?

As a health care provider, my main goal is to help the sick recover from their illness and to prolong life in the most applicable way possible. Even if euthanasia or mercy killing is being practiced in hospital, I still believe that man must die according to the will of the Lord. Obviously, my side sticks with the disagreement on putting back death penalty. Although this is legal and being practiced in some countries, many are still asking if it is ok for Christians to support death penalty to be brought back as punishment to criminals who committed hideous crimes.

*Are you in favor of death penalty? Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.  Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. Romans 12: 17-19 Continue reading “Is it Ok for Christians to Support Death Penalty?”

Is it Ok for Christians to Hunt Animals for Sport?

God has created animals to become our companion in this world and at the same time the food that we eat. There are animals that cannot be eaten but becomes extinct and sometimes even disappear the existence of its species in the Kingdom Animalia. Since it has a purpose why animals were created by God for us humans, do you think it is ok for us Christians to hunt them for sport and not for food?

*What does the Bible say about people hunting animals for sport? The lazy man does not roast what he took in hunting, but diligence is man’s precious possession. Proverbs 12:27

During the time of Jesus, it was not a common practice for the people to hunt for animals because they had their food readily available in their backyard or they have to buy or trade for it. However, some practiced hunting before but not for sports. Man hunted animals for food. But some used animal furs for clothing and other materials. Is it Ok for Christians to Consult Spirit Guides?

Are you familiar with spirit guides? They are the ethereal beings that are said to be assigned to us even before we are born that help nudge and guide us through life. Their duty is to help us fulfill the spiritual contract we make with ourselves before we incarnate. And this only applies to those who believe in reincarnation though. Now for us Christians, are we supposed to believe in spirit guides ourselves? Let’s see what the Bible has to say about this matter.

*What do they say about believing in spirit guides in the Bible? A man or woman who is a medium or spiritist among you must be put to death. You are to stone them; their blood will be on their own heads. Leviticus 20:27

In the past, mediums or other forms of spirit guides were condemned by the people and were put to death. This could only mean that it is not allowed and Christians are prohibited to consult in them because they are not sent to us by the heavens but probably by the devil. Is it Ok for Christians to Migrate in an Illegal Way?

To migrate means to move from one place to another with the intentions of settling permanently in a new location. Most people dreams to migrate in the United States of America because of the good economy there. However, their intention to migrate accompanies some illegal ways to make it possible. Now the question goes like this, do you think it is just ok for us Christians to migrate in the USA in an illegal manner even if your intentions are good? Let’s hear what our Biblical enthusiasts have to say.

*What does the Bible say about illegal immigration? Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. Romans 13:1-2 Continue reading “Is it Ok for Christians to Migrate in an Illegal Way?”

Is it OK for Christians to Believe in Ghosts?

A ghost is described as an apparition of a dead person that is believed to appear or become manifest to the living, typically as a nebulous image. It has been a longtime debate of whether ghosts are real or not because some people claim that they can see ghosts while others say that these can just be visual hallucinations. Which is which? I think we should consult the most reliable book for this, the Bible. Is it OK for Christians to Believe in Ghosts?

*Do you believe that ghosts are real? Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:11-12) Continue reading “Is it OK for Christians to Believe in Ghosts?”

Is it OK for Christians to Drink?

Drinking alcoholic beverages is one of the most loved past time of people these days. Some people use it for socializing, others for catching up with friends, while others drink solo especially when they have problems and wanted to think. Since I don’t actually drink (whether you believe me or not), I can’t understand what people get from drinking and getting drunk. Some of my friends say they enjoy and gain more confidence when they are drunk while others confess that they tend to forget all their problems with the consumption of alcoholic beverages. Now, as a Christian, I wonder if it is ok for Christians to drink.

Yes, Christians are allowed to drink alcohol as long as they responsible enough and do not abuse it. There is nothing wrong with drinking alcohol but if you do something bad after getting drunk, then that is where sin comes in. it is not a sin to drink but you must have limitations and must be careful not to encourage the misuse and abuse of alcohol drinking and use it for sinful acts.

*What does alcohol do to our body? Give strong drink to him who is perishing, and wine to him whose life is bitter, 7 Let him drink and forget his poverty, and remember his trouble no more. (Prov. 31:6-7). Continue reading “Is it OK for Christians to Drink?”
